Vilcabamba Glimpse #31

Corrals and Fences

This Glimpse will give you more of a sense of the 'feeling' at the ranch, Hacienda San Joaquin. At this time, in addition to ongoing construction of the Equestrian and Hiking Center's entrance and second stable, more beautiful stone walls along the roads, and miscellaneous other projects, we are installing traditional ranch fencing around corrals and other areas. The photos in this Glimpse provide a sampling of this fencing. See below for a description of each photo. We are approaching the end of the "rainy season" (approximately October through March...plus or minus). Within this time frame, it rains on average about seven to ten days a month but almost always at night. Day rains are rare and over in minutes. The temperature, always comfortable (warm days, cool nights) remains unchanged. The climate and the scenery are two of the most striking aspects of living here. For about seven months the landscape is very green. During the dry season the landscape is a combination of greens and tans.
