One of our current projects at Hacienda San Joaquin is the construction of stone walls (muros in Spanish) along the roads and in other places on the ranch. Our Ecuadorian builders do excellent stone work. These walls are beautiful aesthetically and provide a measure of safety along some areas of our roads.
Photo 5327: These walls bridge over our irrigation canal. The western edge of property Q10 is to the left.
Photo 5330: This large stone-wall triangular planter is at the center of the junction of three roads. Riverfront property Q14 is behind the planter. In the background is a small glimpse of the Andes Mountains.
Photo 5335: This is another view of the walls that bridge over our irrigation canal. Up ahead around the bend are our offices and reception center.
Photo 5338: These walls define our two parking areas for the Equestrian and Hiking Center which is just up the road.
Photo 5362: This roadside wall opposite property Q3A affords protection and beauty. The Vilcabamba River, that forms the ranch's southern boundary, is to the left.
Construction of these walls is ongoing. There will be more along the roads, at the Equestrian and Hiking Center, and at the River Park. We have also used these stone walls to create extensive planters as part of our main entrance, which is nearly complete (photos soon).
