Vilcabamba Glimpse #17A

Joe's Volleyball Stadium...some close-ups

These photos provide a closer look at the stadium. You can see examples of the fine Ecuadorian concrete and stone work. The last thing they do with the stone wall is to varnish it. Really beautiful!

Also, you can see a bit of ceramic work in the black ceramic tiles that I selected for the seating. Photo 4804 shows you the location of the water fountain and one of three stairways into the seating area.

Beyond the stadium, in two of the photos (4802 and 4804), incidentally, is well-house number one (of three). This building houses a well and a triple water-filtration-system. Water is pumped from here to our reservoir number one. It is treated with ozone and then gravity-fed to a number of the properties. We have three of these systems. The water is great-tasting.

That's a pile of bricks next to the well-house. That's for another project. More on that another time. J

Photo 4808 gives you a bit of a sense of the setting. Between the volleyball courts and the Vilcabamba River is a corral, the fence for which is under construction. You can see two workers near the river putting in more posts. The fence will be painted white. The mountains in the background are part of the vast Andes Mountains that surround the area in all directions.

Just behind the umpires chair are plants that we put in today on both sides of the courts. In about three months, these plants will grow into a beautiful flowering hedge.
